- The first step will be to choose a
state from the state grab bag! Go ahead, and grab one!
Springboard Activity
- Now that you have chosen your state,
let's get some more information about that state.
- Click on the 50 States Video to
view a short film about the 50 States. Be sure to watch for
your specific state! You'll hear a few interesting
tidbits and even see some pictures of its famous sites!

Day 2- |
- Before you get started
today, you will first look at the rubric which will be used
to assess your State Poster project. Please click on
the following link to see the required items for your final
poster. Mrs. McKenna will be using this rubric to help
determine your final grade. You may come back to this
rubric at any time to get clarification or guidance while
working on your poster.

Information Exploration

- Now that you have seen some of the
requirements for your state poster let's get started on your
research!
- First, print off the
following graphic organizer to help keep track of your
information.

- Next, you will be using FactMonster.com
to help you find information about your state. Use the
following link to help you find your state, and locate the
information noted on your graphic organizer.

Day 3- |
Active Involvement

- Now that you have your state information,
you are ready to start developing your poster.
- Start by using the State Poster
template below. You will need to insert specific
information about your state.
- You may also work on changing the
font,
color and size
of the text today. Make sure you choose colors and
letters that will be easy to read! Be sure and save
your work properly when finished with the task.

Day 4- |
Active Involvement

- Today you should be ready
to add pictures to your poster!
- Open up your document in Kidspiration
and start by exploring the graphics section on the left side.
- Add one picture for each
of your categories. Make sure your pictures relate to your
words. Some good examples can be found under the Social
Studies or Geography sections.
- Save all work when
finished today.

Day 5- |
Closure

- Today will be our
last day to work on our posters. Open it in Kidspiration, and
proof-read it carefully. When finished, send your poster to
the color
printer!
- Now it's time to test your knowledge of
the 50 states. Play the Challenge Game with a
partner to see who knows the most about the USA!
